Graduate research position available for new Hindi media project

A graduate position is available for a new media project, Hindi in America. The project is one of several new language-teaching initiatives being undertaken by the Center for Open Educational Resources and Language Learning (http://www.coerll.utexas.edu/) at UT; the project is led by Rupert Snell, Director of Hindi Urdu Flagship.

HUF student wins prestigious award for Urdu study

Ramu Kharel, a fourth-year HUF student, has just been awarded the prestigious Majaz Literary Award by the Aligarh University Alumni Association for his accomplishments in Urdu language and literature scholarship as an undergraduate in the Hindi Urdu Flagship program. The award was the result of a large-scale national competition seeking exceptional undergraduate work in Urdu studies.

New videos introduce HUF and the Language Flagship

In collaboration with Richfield Productions, the Hindi Urdu Flagship and the Language Flagship have produced two new promotional videos. The first video focuses on HUF and features the faculty and students of the Flagship. The video presents an overview of HUF’s mission and distinctives, it also touches on HUF’s Year in India and the Language Flagship movement as a whole.

A new year begins for the HUF family

Students, faculty, and staff began a new academic year with an in-depth orientation session on August 23, 2010. With the 2007 cohort recently returned from HUF’s Year in India, students from each stage of the four-year HUF curriculum were present in one room for the first-time ever.
