HUF student awarded presidential scholarship

Leena Warsi

Leena Warsi, a member of HUF’s 2008 cohort, has just been awarded the extremely prestigious Unrestricted Endowed Presidential Scholarship (UEPS). The UEPS program was created in 1973 to make available substantial scholarships for outstanding students at The University of Texas at Austin. Selection is made by a presidentially appointed scholarship committee. The UEPS program is considered one of the most notable scholarship offers for UT students. Students must be nominated by their academic department in order to be considered for the award. Warsi was nominated by the Department of Asian Studies for outstanding overall academic performance.

Warsi has just completed her overseas year in India and is preparing to enter her fourth and final year in HUF. Warsi is also participating in UT Austin’s Arabic Flagship Program. She holds the unique distinction of being the only student to participate in two separate Language Flagship programs,
