HUF student wins prestigious award for Urdu study

Ramu Kharel, a fourth-year HUF student, has just been awarded the prestigious Majaz Literary Award by the Aligarh University Alumni Association for his accomplishments in Urdu language and literature scholarship as an undergraduate in the Hindi Urdu Flagship program. The award was the result of a large-scale national competition seeking exceptional undergraduate work in Urdu studies. Kharel received the award at a special function in Houston this Saturday, October 16th.

Kharel is completing his fourth year in the HUF program. He is a pre-medical student and member of the prestigious Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP). An in-depth feature article profiling Kharel and his work will be posted here shortly.
