Prestigious scholarship program recruits HUF students

Hindi Urdu Flagship students will have an opportunity this week to meet with a representative for the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program, an initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The CLS Program provides fully-funded fellowships to US undergraduate and graduate students to participate in beginning, intermediate, and advanced level summer language programs overseas. The CLS Program is part of a U.S. government interagency effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering “critical need” foreign languages.

There will be two sessions with the CLS representative, Andrea Turpin. The HUF sponsored session will be this Friday, October 14th at 11am in Parlin 301. An earlier session will be held today (Thursday, October 13th) at 4pm in WMB 6.146.

Students can find out more information about the program at the CLS website. This is a great opportunity to receive a prestigious award to study in India for the summer. The application deadline is November 15, 2011. HUF staff can set-up individual work sessions to help with applications.

HUF students should RSVP by this Friday to let us know which session you will be attending.
