Language for Health is a major language-learning resource targeted specifically at teaching Hindi-Urdu for the healthcare profession. The site provides a wealth of unique, high-quality, authentic video material and innovative side-by-side Hindi and Urdu supplemental textual materials, all centered on the practice of health and medicine in South Asia. Currently, the site houses over 150 lessons covering diverse topics ranging from the language of conventional doctor visits to the specialized terminology of Ayurvedic and Unnani medicine.
LFH represents the Hindi Urdu Flagship’s most significant achievement to date in Hindi-Urdu resource development. Led by HUF’s own Jishnu Shankar, LFH is the result of three years of collaboration between HUF, Columbia University, New York University, and the University of Texas at Austin.
